A HUGE thank you to Marisa & family for their very generous donation to Kindness For Cats!!  Not only did they adopt Tycho & Remy, they also gave a very generous cash donation which will help us spay/neuter and make available for adoption kittens that otherwise we would have had to turn away! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and compassion for these little ones!!      *************************************************************************             A heartfelt thank you to Suzan and Project Starfish Orlando for their  generous donation of canned food, cat litter and more!!  And an ongoing gigantic thank you to Suzan for her unfaltering dedication to the kittens & cats, and for reaching out to other rescues and organizations to enrich their programs!!  Minimum expense to have one kitten or cat ready for adoption is $106, which includes spay/neuter, at least one series of vaccinations, test for feline immunodeficiency & feline leukemia, and at least one flea treatment and one de-worming.           How your donation dollars may be spent: $20 -- spay a female cat (low cost spay provided by OCAS) $10 -- neuter a male cat (low cost neuter provide by OCAS) $5 -- rabies vaccination for one cat (low cost rabies vaccine provided by OCAS) $35 -- one core combination vaccination against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus & panleukopenia; kittens typically require a series of 3 combination vaccines. $35 -- combination test for feline leukemia virus & feline immunodeficiency virus  $11 -- sisal twine scratching post $4.50 -- 20lb bag of clay litter $6 -- tube of Advantage flea treatment $180 -- two story Ferret Nation cage, our preferred housing for kittens (a big thank you to Will & Dana Patton for their generous donations which purchased a Ferret Nation cage AND 2 hammocks which kittens and cats adore!) $1,500 -- build a separate room in the foster center allowing for separation of the sick felines from the general population (a huge thank you to Mike & Felicity Mollica for their continual support, both monetary and otherwise, which allowed for the construction of this very needed room and more!!)  And unfortunately many of the kittens & cats that come into our care have had very difficult beginnings requiring not only additional care but also medications and special food to help speed their way to recovery: Our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Hart of the Altamonte Animal Clinic for his continual and tremendous generosity of time and effort toward helping to comfort and heal the most desperate of our wards.  $20 -- bag of subcutaneous fluids $5 -- one winged infusion set (for injecting fluids) $50 -- 30ml vile of Metoclopramide (aka Reglan: anti-vomit injectable medication) $15 -- one gram vile of Cefazolin (injectable antibiotic medication) $95 -- vile of Griseofulvin (very good oral medication for treatment of ringworm) $1.25 -- can of Science Diet Prescription AD food $0.84 -- chicken baby food
